ARTICLE 7: IMPORTANCE OF LEARNING IN HANDLING GLOBAL ISSUES

Learning plays a major role in identifying and managing global issues in the global network. To face the changing world, Individuals, organisations, and nations are investing more in learning to adapt to innovation and to work more effectively. Let’s discuss some of the importance of learning in handling global issues.

1. Developing economic stability and workforce development.

Learning culture helps to stabilize the economic issues by enhancing the literacy rate in finance, developing business skills, and increasing knowledge of economic policies. The knowledge and skills of human capital are the most important resource for business and economic growth. Training levels in industries are separating developed and developing countries. For that reason, the industries pay high salaries for highly educated people and encourage others to learn in their field.

A country’s economy is based on a skilled labour force. Skilled employees can work efficiently and they can contribute more to the country’s productivity. Learning is a key to the nation’s workforce, which decides how the country’s economy is going to perform. On the other hand, learning and developing the workforce will fill the knowledge and skills gap, increasing the performance of workers, increasing employee engagement, job satisfaction, opening doors for career development, and leading to the organization’s success.

For example, the country Germany is implementing lifelong learning programs to face future challenges and to identify new requirements in the workforce. Germany believes that continuous learning is a basis for facing change in the world.

       2. Focus on environmental sustainability.

Learning brings awareness and knowledge on practicing green technologies and brings responsibilities into daily practices in the working environment. Giving importance to environmental sustainability and having training on renewable energy, reduction in carbon footprint, and preserving the environment will lead businesses to sustain in the market. To sustain in the industry, the organisations use learning as a tool.

For example, the companies Tesla and Google invest more in environmental learning to reduce their impact on environmental sustainability. Currently, the company Google is following 24/7 carbon-free energy, and it is aiming to achieve zero emissions across its operations by 2030. The company Google trains and gives practices to its employees to achieve its goal.

       3. Advanced technologies to solve problems.

The organisations need to learn and need to be in line with advancing technology to sustain in the market, and it helps to face the global challenges. Continuous learning in AI, robotics, and other advanced technologies is essential in globalization. Current industries invest more in research to find technological changes and take innovative ideas to develop globally. Connecting with STEM education brings more awareness on food safety, clean water and much more. For example, in the current world the learning about AI helps to predict natural disasters, and it helps the government to mitigate the effects. 

       4. Food safety and agricultural sustainability.

Education on food safety, technologies for developing agriculture, and supply chain management are very important to sustain agriculture. Learning about nutrition and food supply enhances food security, and training farmers to adapt new technology will increase agricultural production. For example, the study and usage of AI are very important to analyze the crop, and it helps to use resources fully and reduce food waste.

        5. Support social justice and human rights.

Training on diversity and equity became more important to enhance a collaborative working environment in an organization. A fair society raised by education on gender equality, social justice and anti-discrimination. Learning about international human rights laws is very important in enhancing global governance and decision-making in organizations.

Conclusion

Learning is an important tool to identify global challenges, and as a result, it brings new innovations and international cooperation. Continuous learning culture brings solutions for a better world and empowers individuals, organizations, and nations.
